What does the 14-valent vaccine do?

The 14-valent vaccine is usually referred to as the HPV vaccine. The 14-valent HPV vaccine is more efficient in protecting against cervical cancer, warts and other diseases caused by the HPV virus. HPV virus is an important causative factor for cervical cancer. According to the preventable HPV types, the vaccine is categorized into 2-valent, 4-valent, 9-valent and 14-valent. Among them, the 2-valent HPV vaccine mainly prevents HPV types 16 and 18; the 4-valent HPV vaccine mainly prevents types 6, 11, 16 and 18; the 9-valent HPV vaccine adds types 31, 33, 45, 52 and 58, and the preventive protection rate against cervical cancer reaches 90%. The 14-valent vaccine includes 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, a total of 14 subtypes, covering all 12 high-risk cancer-causing HPV viral types announced by the World Health Organization, and two HPV viral types that mainly cause warts, with a 96% preventive protection against cervical cancer, which is more effective.
