Liraglutide belongs to the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, which acts by stimulating insulin secretion and inhibiting glucagon secretion in a glucose concentration-dependent manner through activation of the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor, and at the same time increases glucose uptake in muscle and adipose tissue and inhibits hepatic glucose production to exert hypoglycemic effects, as well as inhibits gastric emptying and suppresses appetite. The drug is mainly used for glycemic control in adult population with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and is suitable for patients with poor glycemic control despite treatment with metformin and/or sulfonylureas on the basis of dietary control and exercise. Pay attention to the presence of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and other adverse reactions during the use of the drug. The drug is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to the components of the drug, patients with a personal past medical history or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, and patients with type 2 multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome. Patients should standardize the use of liraglutide in strict compliance with the doctor’s instructions, do not adjust the dose or stop the drug on their own to avoid adverse effects.
