How to treat inner ear labyrinthitis

Labyrinthitis of the inner ear is generally referred to as labyrinthitis, also known as inner ear infection, and is a more common complication of suppurative middle ear mastoiditis. It includes types such as limited labyrinthitis, plasma labyrinthitis, and suppurative labyrinthitis. It can be treated by general treatment, medication (e.g. diazepam) and surgery. 1. General treatment: patients should take bed rest when they have uncomfortable symptoms and pay attention to the changes of hearing. 2. Drug treatment: appropriate antibiotics can be selected according to the drug sensitivity test to control inflammation in time, commonly used drugs include penicillin, amoxicillin, etc.; hormonal drugs such as dexamethasone can be used to treat the serious condition; diazepam can be used to alleviate the symptom when vertigo is obvious; antiemetic drugs such as metoclopramide can be used in case of severe vomiting. 3. Surgery: limited labyrinthitis can be treated by mastoidectomy; plasma labyrinthitis can be treated by simple mastoidectomy; mastoidectomy can be performed when suppurative labyrinthitis is complicated by intracranial infection; stapes footplate needs to be removed when inner ear function is lost. It is recommended that patients seek timely treatment and strictly follow the medical prescription of medication.
