How long does it usually take for a liver abscess to go away?

Liver abscess can be broadly categorized into bacterial liver abscess and amoebic liver abscess according to the etiology, and its recovery time ranges from about 2 weeks to 4 weeks.
1. Bacterial liver abscess: fever is the most common clinical manifestation, followed by chills, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain; the commonly used examination methods are CT, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging.
Its treatment mainly includes: medication, percutaneous hepatic puncture and drainage treatment, partial hepatectomy, etc. Generally, it can be recovered in 2 to 4 weeks, and the course of the disease may be prolonged if the patient is frail or has concurrent infections in other organs.
2. Amebic liver abscess: its treatment is mainly divided into:
(1) Drug therapy: the main drug used is metronidazole, and other antibiotic drugs can be combined to prevent bacterial infection.
(2) Surgical treatment: similar to bacterial liver abscess, it also adopts the use of antibiotics at the same time, puncture drainage.
