Midnight stomach growling is related to factors such as strong stomach fire, duodenal ulcer, and cold abdomen. People with strong stomach fire will not only have bad breath and constipation, but will also be more prone to hunger pangs because of the relatively hyperactive peristalsis of the stomach. When a person with high stomach fire feels hungry, there is no food in the stomach, so the digestive juices in the stomach will churn with the food, and the abdomen will be accompanied by a gurgling sound. In the middle of the night since there is no food present in the stomach, the stomach acid enters the duodenum at a high intensity. Once you suffer from duodenal ulcer disease, the stomach acid will cause irritation to the duodenum, resulting in hyperactive bowel movements and hence the sound of hyperactive bowel sounds. Failure to keep the abdomen warm while sleeping at night, resulting in a cold abdomen, can cause a digestive stress response and therefore lead to stomach growling in the middle of the night.
