Coughing and nasal bleeding in children is considered to be a nasal mucosa congestion caused by upper respiratory tract infection, and it is the increased pressure when coughing that causes bleeding. Adults should not panic when children bleed, and the following methods can be used to stop the bleeding: 1. pinch the nose tightly with your fingers for 5-10 minutes, stretch your chin and open your mouth to breathe; 2. fill the nasal cavity with cold water-soaked cotton or gauze rolls; 3. pick up cold water with your hands and gently pat your forehead and the back of your neck; 4. raise your right arm when the left nasal cavity bleeds, raise your left arm when the right nasal cavity bleeds, and raise both arms when the nasal cavity bleeds on both sides. Do not tilt your head or lower your head. The blood in your mouth should be spit out to avoid choking into the trachea or stimulating the stomach after swallowing to cause vomiting. If the blood still remains after self-treatment, you should be sent to the hospital for timely treatment. The child’s cough should also be treated urgently.
