Is it normal to have lymph nodes in the neck?

Lymph nodes in the neck are usually normal. Lymph nodes are distributed all over the body, but there is no exception for palpable lymph nodes in the neck due to lymphadenitis, tumors, etc., so each case needs to be analyzed. If the lymph nodes in the neck have a soft texture, smooth surface, good mobility and clear borders, and the patient does not feel discomfort, they are usually normal and are part of the body’s immune system. However, if the lymph nodes in the neck are hard in texture, painful to touch and accompanied by symptoms of fever, lymphadenitis may be considered. If the lymph nodes are hard, poorly mobile, with obvious swelling, accompanied by symptoms such as wasting and weakness, consider that it may be malignant lymphoma or malignant tumor lymph node metastasis. Therefore, whether the patient has normal lymph nodes in the neck needs to be analyzed comprehensively according to the patient’s clinical performance and auxiliary examination. Patients should eat lightly in normal life, avoid spicy and stimulating food, actively participate in physical exercise, pay attention to rest and avoid overexertion. If abnormal lymph nodes are persistently palpated in the neck, they can be seen in the general surgery department of the hospital.
