Children with unilateral cleft lip and bilateral cleft lip can undergo cleft lip revision surgery to restore the normal shape and function of the upper lip and minimize the scar tissue.
1. Unilateral cleft lip: Surgery for cleft lip can be performed when the child is 3-6 months old. Surgical methods include lower triangular flap method and rotational advancement method, through which the normal function and shape of the upper lip can be restored as early as possible and the scar tissue can be minimized.
2. Bilateral cleft lip: the surgery is complicated and bleeding is high, it is best to perform bilateral cleft lip revision at 6~12 months of age, the methods include retaining the original length of the front lip, cross flap reserve method, to restore the normal function and shape of the upper lip as far as possible.
