What’s wrong with sore ears?

Sore ears can be caused by auricular perichondritis, occipital neuritis, and inflammation of the external ear canal. 1. Auricular perichondritis: If you keep sleeping on your side for a long time, the pressure on the ear causes poor local blood circulation, which may lead to inflammation of the local cartilage membrane and produce tension and soreness, and the symptoms of ear soreness. 2. Occipital neuritis: common causes of occipital neuralgia include cervical spondylosis, cervical spine tuberculosis, trauma, spinal cord tumor, osteoarthritis, cervico-occipital myositis, sclerosing dendritis and metastatic tumors, etc., which are mostly secondary to nerve damage. It can be manifested as radiating pain in the outer ear (great nerve of the ear) with paroxysmal aggravation, and the distribution area of the occipital nerve often has sensory hyperalgesia or allergy, or it can present the performance of ear pain. 3. Inflammation of the external auditory canal: If there is a bacterial or fungal infection in the ear canal, it may trigger otitis externa, which may cause the abnormal feeling of earache. Patients with sore ears should go to a regular hospital in time to identify the cause of the disease and take targeted treatment under the guidance of a professional doctor.
