Peritoneal dialysis is a form of renal replacement therapy, and with the current level of dialysis in China and the current status of patient survival, peritoneal dialysis patients can even survive up to 30 years if they follow strict medical advice. In the past, most patients on peritoneal dialysis would develop serious abdominal infections within 3 years of dialysis due to the inadequate technology and consumables, which could be life-threatening. However, at this stage, the technology is basically mature and can be operated at home without going to the hospital for dialysis regularly, which has less impact on working life. During dialysis, iron, calcium and erythropoietin need to be applied to correct anemia and bone metabolism disorders and improve the quality of life, but if the supplementation is not in place, it may affect the survival of the patient. The diet of peritoneal dialysis patients needs to pay attention to low salt, low fat and high quality protein diet to avoid increasing the burden on the kidneys.
