What’s wrong with the swelling of the hands when walking?



The causes of hand swelling when walking include physiological hand swelling and pathologic hand swelling, of which pathologic hand swelling includes arthritis, cervical spondylosis, renal disease, carpal tunnel syndrome and so on.

1. Physiological hand swelling: when people walk, their hands will hang down, due to the effect of gravity, the blood will be filled to the peripheral blood vessels of the hands, which will cause the difficulty of blood reflux in a long time, and the hands will appear numbness and swelling symptoms.

2. Pathological hand swelling

(1) Arthritis: including rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, often occurring in the metacarpophalangeal joints, wrist joints, shoulder joints, etc., typically characterized by redness, swelling, heat and pain. If it occurs in the hand joints, it is easy to appear hand swelling, flexion and extension unfavorable symptoms.

(2) Cervical spondylosis: such as nerve root cervical spondylosis, mainly manifested as cervical spine pain, which can be radiated to the shoulders, upper limbs and other parts of the body, with numbness and swelling of the fingers.

(3) Kidney diseases: such as membranous nephropathy, nephrotic syndrome, etc., which will trigger limb edema and make blood return difficult, causing limb swelling and hand swelling.

(4) Carpal tunnel syndrome: mainly caused by wrist lesions or trauma, which is manifested by numbness and swelling of fingers and weakness.

In addition to the above factors, heart disease, trauma and other causes, can also cause hand swelling. If it is not relieved after resting, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time, improve the examination to clarify the cause of the disease, and then follow the doctor’s instructions to give targeted treatment or treatment, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
