It takes at least 3 months for the vaginal stump to heal completely after total hysterectomy. A small amount of bleeding before the stump heals is normal.
1. If the amount of bleeding is small and there is no pus or fluid, you can check the healing of the vaginal stump on an outpatient basis. If the healing is good, you can keep the vulva clean, prohibit coitus and take a bath, and observe the situation for the time being without any special treatment.
2. If there is sudden heavy bleeding, the possibility of blood vessel rupture cannot be ruled out, and immediate consultation is needed to check the bleeding point, and surgical suture may be needed if necessary; if the bleeding comes from the abdominal cavity, abdominal puncture or even caesarean section may be needed if necessary.
3. If there is vaginal fluid and pus, we can’t rule out the possibility of poor healing of vaginal breaks, infection, etc. We need to check the situation of the breaks in the hospital, and take the bacterial and fungal culture of vaginal secretions and drug sensitivity, and according to the results of the culture, we should give sensitive antibiotics for anti-infective treatment, and use iodine povidone to scrub the vagina on a regular basis, and wait for the healing of the breaks.
