Blisters from moxibustion are burns or detoxification

Blisters from moxibustion can be caused by burns or by detoxification.
Blisters may be caused by the patient’s sensitive skin, the sparks of moxibustion falling onto the skin, or the moxa sticks being too close to the skin. This is due to burns. It is recommended to stop moxibustion immediately in this case and treat the burned area. Patients with this type of skin sensitivity are not recommended to have moxibustion again.
Some patients use direct moxibustion by applying onion liquid or garlic juice to the moxibustion site prior to application to increase the adherence of the moxa cones, and then placing the moxa cones on the skin to burn. This type of moxibustion burns and foams the localized skin and discharges evil qi from the body.
It is recommended that moxibustion be performed by a doctor and not by yourself to avoid damage to the body.
