Is a pituitary tumor in the brain serious?

Pituitary tumors of the brain are not considered serious, they are relatively common, and treatment is relatively certain, depending on the type of pathology. In the case of prolactin type pituitary adenomas, the mainstay of treatment is oral medication, which is the only type of pituitary tumor that can be improved with oral medication. The usual oral medication is bromocriptine, but it should also be noted that if oral bromocriptine is taken for more than six months and still has no significant effect, craniotomy is also needed. For other types of pituitary tumors, there are two treatment options, the first is craniotomy and the second is minimally invasive. The minimally invasive way is to enter through the nose and open the pterygoid sinus for resection, while the surgical craniotomy way is to open the skull for resection under direct vision, both of which should be chosen according to the specific situation.
