What foods should not be eaten with a cold

There are no absolutely forbidden foods for colds, but try to avoid eating foods that are more irritating and high in salt and grease.

First of all, cold and flu patients usually have symptoms such as itchy throat, cough and nasal congestion, etc. Eating stimulating foods (such as alcoholic beverages, spicy foods, cold drinks, hot pot, etc.) may stimulate the mucous membrane of the throat and make the symptoms of itchy throat, cough and nasal congestion more serious.

Secondly, for cold and flu patients with a lot of phlegm, foods high in salt and grease (e.g. fried chicken, pig’s trotters, desserts, etc.) may aggravate phlegm secretion and accumulation, which is not conducive to phlegm discharge.

In addition, some patients with colds will have symptoms of gastrointestinal dysfunction, specifically manifested as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, etc., and stimulating food and high salt, greasy food is very easy to aggravate the gastrointestinal tract reaction.

Cold and flu patients can usually eat more light porridge and fresh fruits and vegetables, more rest, pay attention to warmth, if the symptoms continue or aggravate, should be timely to seek medical advice to give targeted treatment.
