What’s wrong with arm pain in the elderly

In elderly people with arm pain, it must first be clarified whether there is a trauma or a sprain of the arm that triggers a local fracture causing pain. If trauma is ruled out, it is more likely to be triggered by disease. For example, osteoarthritis or due to osteophytes, the enlarged bone stimulates the surrounding ligaments and joint capsule, which can trigger a more pronounced pain in the arm. The pain can be particularly severe when moving the arm or when lifting objects. It may also be due to cervical spondylosis that compresses the nerve roots, resulting in restricted nerve conduction and causing arm pain to occur.
