Centralized lumbar disc herniation is recommended to consult a doctor to confirm the diagnosis in time and under the doctor’s guidance for treatment, usually choosing medication, physical therapy, surgery and other ways of treatment.
Centralized lumbar disc herniation means that the herniated disc protrudes toward the back and presses on the spinal cord and dural sac, thus causing back pain, and in severe cases, it may also lead to weakening of the muscles of the lower limbs and abnormal sensation.
1. Medication: If the central lumbar disc herniation is painful and the herniation symptoms are relatively mild, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as diclofenac sodium can be taken under the guidance of a doctor for anti-inflammatory and pain relief, and mannitol can be used to alleviate the edema if it occurs, and the drugs should be used in accordance with the doctor’s instructions.
2. Physical therapy: If the herniated symptoms are relatively mild, lumbar traction can be carried out under the guidance of the doctor, and localized hot compresses and other physical therapy methods can be used to relieve pain.
3. Surgical treatment: Usually, when the herniated symptoms are serious or conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical treatment such as nucleus pulposus removal or resection of the herniated lumbar disc is required.
Patients with centralized lumbar disc herniation are advised to take rest, avoid strenuous exercise, and go to the hospital for examination and treatment if they have lumbar discomfort.
