Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is divided into two types: dry and wet. Wet AMD is usually diagnosed with a dramatic loss of vision within 3 months. The introduction of the anti-VEGF drug ranibizumab (Novartis) has brought a breakthrough in the treatment of wet AMD. International and Chinese evidence-based medical evidence confirms the excellent efficacy and safety of ranibizumab. Anti-VEGF has been recommended as the first-line treatment option for wet AMD (wAMD) by several international clinical guidelines. It was introduced into the Chinese market in 2012, and our hospital has started the clinical application of teardumab since July to treat wet macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and macular edema caused by retinal vein occlusion, achieving better therapeutic results. However, the price of the drug is high, 9800 yuan/pcs, and some patients need multiple injections, which is a heavy burden for patients, limiting the clinical application of the drug. In April 2013, the phase IV clinical trial of razumab was carried out in our hospital (the State Drug Administration has been filed, and Landa Second Hospital has passed the ethics committee approval). Novartis provides ranibizumab, and free treatment is available for eligible patients with wet macular degeneration. The number of places is 15. Currently, 8 patients have been treated and all have achieved satisfactory treatment results. One more patient is ready to enter the trial, and there are 6 remaining spots.
