Treatment of entropion

Entropion is an abnormal position of the eyelid, especially the lid margin curling toward the eyeball. Depending on its specific etiology, the treatment is as follows: 1. Congenital entropion: with age and nasal development, it usually disappears on its own, so there is no need to rush to surgical treatment. If the child is 5-6 years old and the eyelashes are still turned inward, severely irritating the conjunctiva and cornea, surgical treatment can be considered by performing a vaulted eyelid skin threading procedure, using the force of the suture pull to pull the lid margin outward to correct the lid entropion; 2. Age-related lid entropion: local injections of botulinum toxin are feasible, and if ineffective, the excess loose skin can be surgically removed and some of the orbicularis oculi muscle fibers can be cut. For acute spastic entropion the inflammation should be actively controlled; 3. Scarring entropion: must be treated surgically, either by lid wedge resection or lid dissection.
