How to treat RS3PE syndrome

RS3PE syndrome, or remission seronegative symmetric synovitis with depressed edema syndrome, is a variant of rheumatoid arthritis that is characterized by symmetric flexor (extensor) synovitis with depressed edema of the dorsum of the hands and feet, and is usually improved by drug therapy. Treatment is mainly symptomatic and effective with low-dose hormones and NSAIDs. Low-dose hormones, such as small daily doses of prednisone, are effective in reducing the swelling, and the symptoms may resolve within 24 hours, with some patients requiring several weeks. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as diclofenac can be used to relieve joint pain. Patients are advised to go to the hospital in time and follow the doctor’s instructions.
