Whether the bunion is congenital or acquired, the treatment options are basically the same. If bunions are found in newborns, infants and toddlers after birth, they can be treated with strictly conservative treatment and achieve relatively good results. Orthotics can be used, and because of the relatively high flexibility and plasticity of the soft tissues in newborns, most can improve a lot. However, when a congenital bunion is discovered after adulthood, the angle of the bunion, that is, the degree of deformity, needs to be evaluated. If the bunion can be treated conservatively, wearing loose shoes to the inflamed bunion bursa can be closed, and if there is no significant impact on life after conservative treatment, surgery is not necessary. However, if conservative treatment does not work or if the deformity is very severe, only surgical orthopedic treatment is possible.
