Difference between ultrasound gastroscopy and gastroscopy

Usually, ultrasound gastroscopy differs from gastroscopy in terms of the scope of the examination and its use. Gastroscopy can only see the structures on the surface of the stomach through the probe. Ultrasound gastroscopy, on the other hand, has a wider scope of examination compared to plain gastroscopy, and can usually detect submucosal lesions, such as when a patient has a disease of the stomach, esophagus, or duodenal peripheral organs, such as the liver, biliary and pancreatic systems. Submucosal lesions include lesions originating outside the mucosal layer, such as cysts, gastric mesenchymal tumors, ectopic pancreas, etc. It can also be used to determine the extent of tumor invasion, and can be used to diagnose lesions in organs adjacent to the stomach, such as pancreatic diseases. It can also be used to do operations such as taking pathology by needling through ultrasound gastroscopy. In addition, patients are advised to undergo ultrasonic gastroscopy and gastroscopy in regular hospitals.
