Efficacy and Effects of Gui Zhi Paeoniae Radix Tang

Gui Zhi Shao Yao Tang has the effect of promoting Yang and harmonizing the middle of the body has the effect of treating abdominal pain caused by internal invasion of cold and blockage of qi.
Gui Zhi Pao Yao Tang consists of Gui Zhi, Chen Pi, Licorice, Ginger and Bai Shao. Among them, Gui Zhi sweats and detoxifies the muscles (relieving evil qi from the surface of the skin), warms the meridians and passes through the veins, assists Yang in transforming qi, disperses cold and relieves pain; Bai Shao Yao is the minister to nourish Blood and soften the Liver (tonifying the Blood and softening the Liver), and to ease the urgency and relieve pain (relieving the symptoms of pain in a more urgent situation).
Paeonia lactiflora and Gui Zhi work together to relieve cold (removing cold from the surface of the body) and harmonize Ying and Wei (making the body’s internal and external qi smooth and in their respective roles). Ginger is pungent, dispersing and warming the middle, which helps Gui Zhi to dispel cold from the surface; Chen Pi moves qi, relieves pain and relaxes the middle; and Glycyrrhiza glabra harmonizes all the herbs (harmonizes the properties of different Chinese medicines). The combination of all medicines, harmonize Ying and Wei, promote Yang and Qi, dissipate cold and relieve pain, then the pain will be eliminated.
