Explaining the causes and countermeasures of misdiagnosis of lung cancer

Pneumonia” or “tuberculosis” with poor anti-infection and anti-TB treatment “After a long period of anti-infection and anti-TB treatment with poor results, they were already in the advanced stage of lung cancer when they came to our hospital and lost the opportunity to obtain radical treatment. Very unfortunate and painful! The reasons for misdiagnosis of lung cancer are: 1. About 1/4 of lung cancers appear in the early stage in the form of imaging similar to pneumonia or tuberculosis, which is easy to be misdiagnosed. 2. 2. Patients may not be very old, and there are even patients in their 20s who do not think they have the possibility of lung cancer and do not go to a higher level hospital for consultation. 3.As lung cancer may be accompanied by pneumonia, the symptoms may indeed be relieved after anti-infection treatment, and the vigilance is relaxed. 4. Lung cancer has extra-pulmonary symptoms, and some patients first present with extra-pulmonary symptoms, such as dizziness, pain in the waist or limbs, deformation of fingers, etc., and therefore do not think that there could be a problem in the lungs. Therefore, patients with “pneumonia” and “tuberculosis” that do not work well with anti-infection/anti-TB treatment or occur repeatedly in the same area should be highly alert to the possibility of lung cancer, and should seek medical consultation at a large general hospital such as thoracic surgery as soon as possible.
