Tibial plateau fracture, also known as tibial condyle fracture, is a fracture of the tibial plateau that can be sustained around 2-8 weeks after the fracture and can slowly lead to independent walking with no crutches.
Tibial condylar fracture is an intra-articular fracture, which can be caused by the impact of internal/external rotation violence on the knee joint or compression violence caused by falling, etc. It is often combined with neurovascular injuries, osteofascial compartment syndrome, soft tissue contusion or extrusion injuries. Surgery is often required if the articular surface collapses >2mm, or if lateral displacement exceeds 5mm with knee ligament injury.
In the second day after surgery, active or passive functional exercise can be started, combined with nerve and soft tissue injuries, joint braking for 2~3 weeks and then functional exercise, 6~8 weeks can support the crutches to get out of bed without weight-bearing activities, 18~24 weeks to gradually increase the weight-bearing, 28 weeks or so, can slowly abandon the crutches to walk independently.
Tibial plateau fracture without displacement or fracture collapse <2mm can be manipulated to restore and fixation. Early independent walking will cause joint surface damage, should avoid early over-activity of the joints, combined with the actual situation of the individual under the guidance of the doctor to carry out rehabilitation exercises, without crutches, it is recommended to consult a doctor before abandoning the crutches.
