Pain in the liver area of hepatitis B

In patients with chronic viral hepatitis B, if there is distension or vague pain in the right upper abdomen and the back. First, the patient should observe the ultrasound of the upper abdomen to see, first, whether there are hypoechoic masses in the liver, and second, whether there are gallbladder stones, cholecystitis, intrahepatic bile duct stones, or common bile duct stones. If there are patients with gallbladder stones, cholecystitis or intrahepatic bile duct stones or common bile duct stones, further treatment should be considered. For patients with gallbladder stones combined with cholecystitis, if the stones exceed 1.5 cm, or if the patient has recurrent cholecystitis, laparoscopic cholecystectomy should be considered as early as possible. In addition, for some patients, if the ultrasound reveals a hypoechoic mass in the liver, the patient should have a further blood test to see if there is an elevation in the alpha-fetoprotein. If fetoprotein is elevated, we should further investigate the patient’s upper abdomen with enhanced CT and PET-CT examination if necessary to determine whether the patient has primary liver tumor disease.
