The cervix that has had an abortion will not show any major changes from before the original abortion procedure. Changes in the cervical opening are more noticeable in people who have had a history of childbirth and those who have not, and there can be some changes in the cervix at this time. For people who are unmarried and have not given birth, that is, have no history of vaginal delivery, the cervix is usually round. In the case of a woman who has had a vaginal delivery, this scale is larger because of the process of dilation and retraction of the cervix. If a fetus has been delivered vaginally and retracts back to the normal uterine inlet of a non-transvaginal pregnancy, it may not be round anymore and may be transversely oval in shape. Abortion because the mouth of the uterus is not extremely dilated, depending on the size of the patient’s pregnancy, of course. If the pregnancy is a large month for an abortion there may be a slight change, if the abortion is done after just an early pregnancy, there will not be any noticeable change in the mouth of the uterus.
