How to treat insomnia with triple jiao imbalance

Insomnia caused by an imbalance of the triple jiao belongs to the category of “insomnia” in Chinese medicine, which needs to be treated clinically based on evidence-based diagnosis, and can be treated with traditional Chinese medicines (such as gentian diarrhea and liver tonic plus subtractions, Huanglian warm gallbladder tonic plus subtractions, and so on), acupuncture, and other methods.
At present, the treatments for patients with insomnia need to be based on the premise of diagnosis and treatment, including traditional Chinese medicine treatment, acupuncture treatment and so on.
1. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment:
(1) Liver fire disturbing the heart: patients with insomnia, dreamy, impatient and irritable, accompanied by symptoms such as red eyes and tinnitus, dry and bitter mouth, etc., with red tongue and yellow fur, and number of strings in the pulse, the treatment is based on dredging the liver and diarrhea and heat, and calming the heart and tranquilizing the mind, and Longdian Diarrhea and Liver Soup plus subtractions is available.
(2) Phlegm-heat disturbing the heart: the patient’s heart is disturbed and insomnia (symptoms of disturbing heat in the heart and insomnia), accompanied by heavy head and dizziness, with red tongue and yellow fur, and slippery pulse; the treatment is mainly to clear phlegm-heat and harmonize the middle and tranquilize the mind, and the treatment is to use Huanglian Wengdian Tang with additions and subtractions.
(3) Deficiency of heart and spleen: the patient is not easy to sleep, palpitation and forgetfulness, fatigue (lack of spirit), poor appetite, accompanied by tiredness of the limbs, abdominal distension and loose stools (thin and unshaped feces), etc., with a pale tongue and thin moss, and a thin and feeble pulse, the treatment is mainly to tonify the heart and spleen, nourish blood and calm the mind, and the spleen soup can be used.
2. Acupuncture and moxibustion: Zhaohai, Shenmen, Sanyinjiao, Anmian, Sishencong, etc. If the patient’s heart is disturbed by liver fire, then match with Xingma; if the heart is disturbed by phlegm heat, then match with Fenglong and Laogong; if the heart and spleen are deficient, then match with Xinyu and Spleen Yu.
