What causes mouth sores?

Mouth and tongue sores is the term used in Chinese medicine, in western medicine it usually refers to mouth ulcers. The cause of mouth ulcers is not very clear, it may be related to non-pathological factors such as improper diet, poor oral hygiene, or pathological factors such as immune dysfunction.
1. Non-pathologic factors:
(1) If you often eat spicy and stimulating or too hot food, such as barbecue, hot pot, chili peppers, etc., as well as if you have the habit of picky eating, such as eating less fruits and vegetables, which causes vitamin deficiency and nutritional imbalance, it is very easy to have oral ulcers;
(2) If the oral hygiene is not good, there are a lot of dental calculus, plaque, or mental stress, often stay up all night is also prone to mouth ulcers;
(3) Mouth ulcers may also occur during women’s menstruation due to large fluctuations in hormone levels.
2. Pathological factors: commonly found in immune dysfunction, such as T-cell and B-cell dysfunction, lupus erythematosus, anemia, gastrointestinal diseases, Behcet’s syndrome, cancer of the oral mucosa and so on. Due to the body’s immune dysfunction, it is easy to lead to pathogenic bacterial infections, which may also cause ulcers.
In addition, oral ulcers can also be affected by genetic factors. It is recommended to pay attention to rest, avoid eating spicy and stimulating food, if the pain of mouth ulcers is obvious, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time, symptomatic treatment.
