Smoking is very dangerous, we stay away from it

It is well known that smoking or secondhand smoke is always a risk for cardiovascular disease, neoplasm or chronic respiratory disease. There is a significant positive correlation between the amount of smoking and the risk of morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease, neoplasm or chronic respiratory disease, and the incidence of coronary heart disease, hypertension, cerebrovascular disease and peripheral vascular disease is significantly higher in smokers. Despite the efforts of many cardiovascular and respiratory specialists to promote the dangers of smoking, the number of smokers in China is still increasing. The latest data show that in 2010, the “Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) – China” project survey showed that an estimated 738 million non-smoking Chinese suffered from the dangers of secondhand smoke. 2014 China Youth Tobacco Survey showed that Chinese youth now have a tobacco use rate of 6.9%. However, compared to 2010, the proportion of people seen smoking in indoor workplaces, public places, public transportation and at home decreased in 2015, indicating an improvement in secondhand smoke exposure. The smoking cessation rate among people aged ≥15 years in China increased from 9.42% in 1996 to 16.90% in 2010.The 2015 China Adult Tobacco Survey showed that the standardized current smoking rate among people aged ≥15 years in China was 27.7% (52.1% for men and 2.7% for women), and the number of current smokers increased by 15 million compared to 2010.In 2015, current smokers The average daily smoking rate was 15.2 cigarettes, an increase of 1 cigarette compared to 2010. From the above data, we can conclude that the situation is not optimistic. For the sake of people’s health, the whole society should actively work together to promote the dangers of smoking and the benefits of quitting. In addition to helping patients to quit smoking, medical professionals should urge and support governments at all levels to develop effective tobacco control regulations to create a smoke-free environment for the public, to promote the dangers of smoking, to avoid second-hand smoke, and to prevent youth from smoking.
