Chinese medicine treats traumatic swelling mainly by taking blood circulation and blood stasis removing agents, such as Qixi San, Xueluo Xinglingdan, and Fuxuan Xuebao Tang, etc. The main functions of Qixi San are to dissipate blood stasis, eliminate swelling, and stop bleeding.
1. Seven Cents San: mainly composed of cinnabar, musk, plum blossom ice, pure frankincense, safflower, myrrh and other traditional Chinese medicines, has the effect of dispersing blood stasis and eliminating swelling, fixing pain and stopping bleeding, and is mainly used for treating bruises, broken tendons and bone fractures with blood stasis and swelling and pain, or cuts and bleedings, and for treating anonymous swellings and poisons, burns and scalds, etc. It should be noted that it is contraindicated for pregnant women. Note that this drug is contraindicated in pregnant women.
2. Activating Blood Vitalizer: mainly composed of Angelica sinensis, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Shengming frankincense, Shengming myrrh and other traditional Chinese medicines, it has the efficacy of activating blood circulation, eliminating blood stasis, clearing up collaterals and relieving pain, and is mainly used for treating the syndrome of qi and blood stagnation with symptoms such as pain in the heart and abdomen, pain in the legs and arms, bruises, internal and external sores as well as obstruction in the abdomen (the appearance of tangible and intangible lumps in the abdomen, with a feeling of distension and pain).
3. Fuxing Yuan Xue Blood Tang: mainly composed of Chinese herbs such as Chai Hu, Juniperus chinensis, Angelica sinensis, Safflower, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Rheum palmatum and peach kernel, etc. It has the efficacy of invigorating blood circulation to dispel blood stasis, dredging the liver and clearing the channels, and is mainly used for treating bruises and injuries with blood stasis, with the symptom manifesting as stagnation of blood and swelling of the ribs and coxae and intolerable pain.
