Hope for patients with “pancreatic cancer”: seizing the miracle

In the face of pancreatic cancer, which is known as the “king of cancers”, patients often react in an extreme way, either thinking that they have only 3-6 months to live or hoping to be cured, which are not practical. To create a miracle, look at the mindset and the measures. Here I will introduce a few patients with pancreatic cancer that I have seen create a “miracle” of life: Case 1 (female, born in 1950): pancreatic tumor (low-grade malignant islet cell tumor, a disease of Steve Jobs, which belongs to the category of pancreatic cancer) was surgically removed in 1986. ), multiple liver metastases were found in 1992, without any treatment for 20 years, and on review in 2012, there was no change in the remaining lesions except for one liver metastasis that had increased in size. Comment: The malignancy of islet cell tumor is extremely low, even if the liver metastases, the growth rate is also extremely slow. Case 2 (male, born in 1943): pancreatic cancer was diagnosed in March 2008 (surgical, imaging and American expert consultation), only I denied the diagnosis, conservative treatment by gamma knife, chemotherapy and herbal medicine, so far it has been more than 4 years, the patient’s symptoms disappeared, life as usual, CA19-9 recovered, but the pancreatic mass still exists (no significant change). Comment: At present, the academic community takes obtaining pathology as the only basis for diagnosing this disease, but there are many difficulties in practice. This patient met all the clinical diagnostic criteria and was able to have hope without obtaining pathology, although he was surviving with tumor, and my encouragement and persistent confidence may be his secret. Case 3 (male, born in 1969): In early 2009, he was diagnosed with extensive metastasis of pancreatic cancer with multiple lymph node metastasis under the clavicle, biopsied under the clavicle and pathologically confirmed as metastatic adenocarcinoma. Six months after chemotherapy, CT and PET-CT were repeated and all lesions disappeared, and one year after stopping medication, multiple lymph node enlargement was found around the pancreas in January 2012. Comment: I consulted the 2009 data and concluded that it was gastric cancer with extensive lymph node metastasis, which negated the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Some gastric cancers are sensitive to chemotherapy, but the good thing is that the patient is young, has good physical strength, recovers quickly, and has survived for 2 years, and the current lesions are few and small, and with effective treatment, it should not be difficult to survive for several more years. Case 4 (male, born in 1967): total pancreatic cancer diagnosed in 2006, with 15 kg weight loss and elevated CA19-9. He was diagnosed with IPMN in 2006 and did not undergo surgery; he was followed up in February 2012 and was in good health and recovered his weight. Point: Total pancreatic cancer is rare and difficult to differentiate from IPMN, which is a pre-cancerous or malignant potential disease and belongs to the category of pancreatic cancer in pathology. The patient has survived for more than 6 years and now feels all right in himself.
