What is congenital absence of vagina

Congenital absence of vagina is a congenital malformation of the genital organs. Patients present clinically with no cavity or internal structure connecting the perineal area to the vaginal area, with only a depression visible on the surface, but no intact vaginal structure. Usually these patients have no uterus or a small uterus, called a dead uterus. In these patients, ultrasound is required to determine the presence of ovaries and the presence or absence of epididymis. Chromosomal testing for true or false positive anomalies, hormone levels, and secondary sexual characteristics such as breast development are also required, and vaginal reconstruction by autologous tissue transplantation is possible.
