Risks of Double Eyelid Surgery

Double eyelid surgery is a surgical procedure in which sutures are embedded directly between the skin and the eyelid plate through suturing, causing the skin of the upper eyelid to adhere to the eyelid plate and forming a heavy eyelid. Although the success rate has improved compared to traditional open surgery, there are certain indications for this surgery, and if you blindly choose to have double eyelid surgery without a good understanding of your own eye condition, there are still certain surgical risks, which are as follows: 1. Embedded sutures falling off: if the candidate’s own condition does not meet the indications for the surgery, the symptom of disappearing the upper eyelid crease will appear very soon after the surgery. 2. The reason for this is that the threads are not buried deeply during the surgery or the threads are too long when cutting the threads; 3. Narrowing of the eyelids: if the upper eyelids of the candidates have a slight swelling phenomenon and strongly insist on the buried eyelid method for the surgery, the narrowing of the eyelids is more likely to occur during the surgery; 4. Allergic and other adverse reactions: in order to guarantee the effect of the surgery, the doctor chooses to use nylon threads, which are rarely used in the surgery for allergic reactions. Nylon thread, rarely appear the phenomenon of rejection, but there are cases of using other sutures, allergies and other adverse phenomena; 5, ptosis: buried eyelids may appear asymmetry between the two eyes, postoperative upper eyelid ptosis and other unsatisfactory results.
