The Chinese dream is to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, which is the greatest dream of the Chinese nation since modern times! Since General Secretary Xi Jinping stated the Chinese dream of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the topic of the Chinese dream has been widely discussed. Thus, a wave of activities with the theme of “Chinese Dream” has arisen in every part of the country, greatly awakening the legendary Chinese dream in the hearts of the people. As a medical worker, my dream is to overcome aging and stay young forever; to overcome osteoporosis and strengthen our countrymen! Aging often means disease and death, while youth means health and strength. Staying away from disease and death, and staying young and healthy forever is the dream in every one of our hearts, and has been our dream for thousands of years. From Shen Nong’s tasting of all kinds of herbs to the alchemist’s cultivation of the immortality elixir, from the Yellow Emperor’s Internal Canon to the Compendium of Materia Medica, these are the explorations and accomplishments of the Chinese ancestors in their quest for health to overcome disease and death. The first emperor, Ying Zheng, sent Xu Fu down to the East China Sea to seek a prescription for immortality in his quest for longevity. Genghis Khan, the pride of a generation, in his quest for longevity, honored Qiu Shi Ji, the Taoist master of the Quanzhen sect, as his national teacher, and often discussed with him ways of prolonging his life. The first emperor’s ambition, touring the Great Wall, back to the capital on the way to die of a sudden illness; the proud son of God, God’s whip, collapsed in Western Xia. However, human beings have never stopped exploring medical science, and their confidence in the pursuit of health and longevity is increasing day by day. The time has come to the 21st century, a century of life science, an era of scientific and technological explosion. The rapid development of science and technology has made everything possible. Genetic modification technology has made people realize that the genes of living things can be improved. Through genetic modification, our crops can be more drought-resistant, frost-resistant, disease-resistant, pest-resistant, more resistant to natural disasters, and their yields are greatly increased and more nutritious. Through genetic modification, we make new species that serve people better. Can’t people also improve the genes of human beings so that they are immune to all diseases? On July 5, 1996, Ian Mutt (wilmut), a renowned geneticist at the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh, England, was asked to study the effects of genetic modification on human genes. Mut (wilmut) led by the research team using cloning technology to breed a sheep, named “Dolly”. Dolly’s birth aroused great interest in cloning technology, and caused a global discussion on cloning technology. Can human beings be cloned using cloning technology? For people suffering from organ failure and in need of organ transplants, is it possible to use cloning technology to clone a donor organ with the exact same genotype as the recipient patient? Although, in many countries, cloning technology is expressly prohibited for human cloning, but there are still a lot of scientists in this field eager to try. February 14, 2003, Dolly the sheep due to progressive lung disease was euthanized, enjoying a life of 7 years old, only equivalent to half of the life of the average sheep! Dolly’s death led to a great deal of discussion and in-depth research into the lifespan of cloned animals, which led to the discovery of telomeres. The discovery of telomeres solved the mystery of human aging, the original aging is a genetic disease, life expectancy is innately determined! With the growth of living organisms, cell division and proliferation, DNA replication, telomeres will gradually become shorter, accompanied by telomere attenuation, aging and death will inevitably occur. Just when people feel helpless about the fatalistic theory of longevity, through the study of telomeres, scientists announced to the world that the normal life expectancy of human beings should be about 150 years old! Yet has any person in history ever lived to be 150 years old? 150 years, an exciting number! With the development of medicine, people’s ability to overcome diseases has greatly increased, people’s life expectancy is getting longer and longer, there are more and more people believe that human beings are really able to live to 150 years old, although they have not yet lived to this age. People’s desire is always unlimited, there is no way to slow down or even stop the decay of telomeres, so that people will always be young, aging will always miss the appointment. Numerous scientists, after intensive research, have found that aging is related to the chronic accumulation of toxic substances in the body, oxidative stress, and poor lifestyle habits. With the development of medical science and the depth of research, it seems that overcoming aging and maintaining youth and health forever is just around the corner. The beautiful dream of overcoming aging and maintaining youth and health forever has never been as close as it is today. It is fortunate to live in this era; it is honorable to strive for this dream! There is still a long, long way to go to turn the dream into reality, and a lot of hard work is needed. Empty talk is misleading, practical work to build a nation. If you have a dream, you have hope, and if you have a dream, you have passion. Pie will not fall from the sky. Chasing the dream and down-to-earth, unremitting efforts, the dream is not a fantasy, is not a pipe dream! My specialty is orthopedics, and my research focuses on bone aging and osteoporotic fractures. With the arrival of the aging society, bone aging, i.e. osteoporosis, has become an important health problem for human beings. According to the U.S. National Osteoporosis Foundation (WOF) report, in 1997, Americans suffered from osteoporosis up to 10,103,000 people, another 18,557,000 people with osteoporosis, and women are about 3 to 4 times as many as men. At present, China’s 60 years of age or older population is estimated to be 173 million, according to a national large-scale epidemiological survey from 2003 to 2006, the country in 2006 in the population over 50 years of age about 69.44 million people suffering from osteoporosis, about 210 million people have low bone mass, from the world’s largest. It is expected that by 2050, the number of elderly people over 65 years old will increase to 330 million, and the incidence of osteoporosis and its fracture will increase dramatically, which should draw the close attention of the whole society. How to reduce and prevent the occurrence of osteoporosis has been the medical and health cause of our country urgent need to solve the problem. As medical workers, we are obliged to take up the responsibility and task of realizing the great “medical dream”. Continuously improve the level of professional and technical skills, quality of medical services, improve their own quality, fully carry forward the pragmatic, hard-working style, the mind and energy to the general public to provide high-quality and safe medical and health care work, consciously do the medical dream of participants, practitioners, promoters, for the people’s growing demand for medical and health care services continue to work hard! Attack aging and stay young forever; defeat osteoporosis and strengthen the Chinese people! This phrase has long been memorized and written into my FMS, WeChat and other online signatures. This sentence is both my dream and the goal for which I have been striving all my life! In order to realize my medical dream as soon as possible, I seriously study advanced theoretical knowledge, grasp the dynamics of the development of the discipline, study hard and tirelessly! The learning style and knowledge passed on to me by the old generation of experts are better carried forward in today’s rapid development of medicine. I will take the brilliance of the predecessors as a starting point, to serve patients as a responsibility, down-to-earth, steady progress!
