Effects of Amiodarone

Amiodarone is used to treat cardiac arrhythmias, either orally or by injection, in the following ways: First, to treat atrial arrhythmias, including atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation, and maintenance of sinus rhythm. Second, it can also be used to treat junctional arrhythmias and ventricular arrhythmias, to treat life-threatening ventricular precontractions, and to prevent ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation. Third, it can also be used for arrhythmias associated with WPW syndrome, which is a very specialized drug and should always be used under the guidance of a doctor’s prescription.
