Betalox includes two dosage forms, metoprolol tartrate and metoprolol succinate, the specific use of the dosage depends on the patient’s condition, to follow the individualized treatment, usually to take the drug orally on an empty stomach, the specific use of the drug should be strictly in accordance with the instructions to take the drug or follow the doctor’s instructions. Metoprolol tartrate: 1. For the treatment of hypertension, 100~200mg daily, divided into 1 to 2 times. 2. In the treatment of acute myocardial infarction, it is recommended that it be used at an early stage, i.e., within the first few hours, because immediate use reduces the extent of infarction and short-term (15-day) mortality in patients who have failed to undergo thrombolysis (this effect occurs 24 hours after the administration of the drug). In patients who have been thrombolysed, it may reduce the rate of reinfarction and reischemia, and may reduce mortality if administered within 2 hours. General Use: Metoprolol can be administered intravenously as 2.5 to 5 mg (over 2 minutes) every 5 minutes for 3 doses totaling 10 to 15 mg. Oral dosing of 25 to 50 mg every 6 to 12 hours for 24 to 48 hours can be initiated 15 minutes thereafter, followed by oral dosing of 50 to 100 mg once a day, twice a day. When metoprolol succinate is used for hypertension, 47.5-95 mg once a day is recommended. Patients who do not respond to 95 mg may be combined with other antihypertensives, preferably diuretics and calcium antagonists of the dihydropyridine class, or the dose may be increased. Adverse reactions to metoprolol include chest pain, sleep disturbance, palpitations (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), dizziness and headache, diarrhea, and excessive sweating. Metoprolol should be contraindicated in patients with cardiogenic shock, patients with low blood pressure, and those who are allergic to the product. Metoprolol needs to be taken under the supervision of a doctor and follow the doctor’s instructions.
