Can ovarian cysts be cured?

Ovarian cysts are a type of ovarian tumor in the broad sense. Although they have a certain percentage of malignancy, most of them are benign tumors. For benign ovarian cysts that are not yet malignant, they can be cured. However, ovarian cysts have the possibility of recurrence. The treatment of ovarian cysts depends on the patient’s age, the location, volume, size, growth rate, malignancy, preservation of fertility, and the patient’s subjective wishes. For ovarian cysts less than 2 cm in size, regular observation can be performed. During the observation period, oral herbal tonics can be used to help control the development rate of the cysts. For cysts larger than 5 cm in size, or cysts that develop rapidly, they must be surgically removed, and ovarian cystectomy can be performed. However, since the occurrence of ovarian cysts is related to hormonal levels and lifestyle, there is still a possibility of recurrence. For older patients (over 45 years old) or post-menopausal patients, ovarian cysts that are too large can be removed from one or both fallopian tubes and ovaries, and will not recur. Ovarian cysts have a certain tendency to become malignant, so if the cyst becomes malignant, it will affect the reproductive function. In most cases, ovarian cysts can be cured as long as they are not malignant.
