Repair of medial collateral ligament tears of the knee

Position: supine position with the hip flexed at approximately 45° and the knee flexed at approximately 60°, with the lower extremity abducted by gravity. Incision: A medial median incision is made from 2 cm proximal to the adductor tuberosity, slightly curved, crossing the adductor tuberosity distally, running parallel to the patella and patellar tendon about 3 cm medially, and then stopping 5-6 cm below the joint line along the anterior medial tibia. The saphenous vein in the posterior medial part of the skin is avoided and the saphenous nerve is protected.
