Can breast cancer pcr come back?

It is still possible for a breast cancer patient who has achieved PCR to have a recurrence.
PCR means pathological complete remission, which is mostly seen in breast cancer patients who have received neoadjuvant chemotherapy before surgery, and the chemotherapy has killed the cancer cells in the breast cancer lesions, so the postoperative pathology of breast cancer shows that there are no cancer cells, which belongs to the pathological complete remission, and this kind of patients’ treatment effect is better, and patients’ possibilities of being cured are higher.
However, most of the breast cancer patients who need preoperative neoadjuvant chemotherapy are no longer in early stage, so even if the patients are not in complete remission after surgery, it only means that there are no cancer cells in the lesion.
However, there may still be cancer cells remaining in the body, so there is still a possibility of recurrence of the lesion, so it is still necessary to improve various auxiliary treatments, such as endocrine therapy, targeted drug therapy, radiotherapy, etc., so as to reduce the recurrence rate.
