Nourishing Yang Returning Five Soup is effective in treating strokes characterized by qi deficiency and blood stasis, but the exact effect varies from person to person, and the use of the medicine should be in accordance with the doctor’s instructions.
Composed of Astragalus, Angelica sinensis, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Rhizoma Dillon, Rhizoma Ligustici, Rhizoma Ligustici, Rhizoma Safflower, and Peach Kernel, this formula is effective in tonifying qi, invigorating blood and clearing the blood channels. It can be used to treat the symptoms of Qi deficiency and blood stasis in stroke.
Symptoms include hemiplegia (inability to move one side of the limb freely), askew mouth and eyes, spoken language, salivation at the corner of the mouth, frequent urination or incontinence of urine, dull tongue, white moss, and slow and feeble pulse.
This formula should be taken for a long time to be effective, and should be continued after healing to consolidate the effect and prevent recurrence. However, if post-stroke hemiplegia is due to yin deficiency and hyperactivity of yang (deficiency of yin fluid and hyperactivity of yang qi), phlegm obstruction and blood stasis, with red tongue and yellow moss, and large and strong pulse, it is not suitable to use this formula. Specific cases must be prescribed under the diagnosis of a professional physician, do not self-diagnosis and use of medication.
If you need medication, it is recommended that you consult a TCM physician for dialectical guidance and standardized treatment as prescribed by the doctor, rather than blindly using your own medication to avoid delaying your condition.
