Can cholecystitis cause high bilirubin?

Cholecystitis has the potential to cause high bilirubin.
Cholecystitis is an infectious disease of the gallbladder that occurs when viruses and bacteria invade the gallbladder. In the acute phase of the disease, the gallbladder becomes edematous, congested, and has inflammatory exudates, resulting in abnormal bile excretion and elevated bilirubin levels. In the recovery phase, the bilirubin may be within the normal range.
In addition, there are many other causes of elevated bilirubin, such as stones in the liver and biliary system, cirrhosis, parasites, tumors, hemolysis caused by blood disorders, and so on.
If a patient is diagnosed with cholecystitis, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital in time for targeted treatment under the guidance of a doctor in order to minimize the adverse effects of the disease.
