In general, an enlarged clitoris usually refers to the clitoris of an adult woman who has a total length greater than 18mm, a visible area greater than 10mm, or a width of the head of the clitoris greater than 5mm in the non-erect state. The normal clitoris is located at the tip between the labia minora on both sides, exposing only the head of the clitoris, which is the size of a pea and about 6 to 8mm in diameter. If the clitoris is too long and thick, it can be considered as clitoral hypertrophy. The majority of clitoral hypertrophy is pathologic and can be caused by abnormal hormone levels combined with varying degrees of masculinization. It may also be due to chromosomal abnormalities such as congenital ovarian hypoplasia, true hermaphroditism, and neurofibromatosis of the clitoris. When patients have clitoral hypertrophy, they should go to the hospital as soon as possible, complete the relevant examinations, and cooperate with the doctor to give appropriate treatment, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
