How is sleep defined in the dictionary? It is a recurrent and inert state of non-reflection, during which physiological activity is reduced and consciousness is lowered. During sleep the anterior pituitary gland secretes growth hormone, which facilitates the growth of the organism and nucleoprotein synthesis, and the preservation of memory. When people are at rest, some organs do not need sleep, such as the liver, heart, and lungs, and only the brain needs rest, so sleep is a phenomenon specific to the brain. People have to secrete many harmful factors every day, which accelerate aging causing many diseases. Other organs can be replaced or repaired to improve this damage, but the brain is an organ that rarely regenerates, so it needs to rest and adjust itself to repair the damage and injury caused by harmful factors, so sleep is very critical.
