Antibiotics are very effective in the treatment of acne, mainly for acne with obvious infections, such as folliculitis papules with surrounding redness and swelling, accompanied by a large number of pustules. If the rash is very severe, with large folliculitis papules and pustules on the face, neck, or chest and back, it should be treated with clindamycin phosphate injection or levofloxacin hydrochloride injection. If the rash is confined to the face, it can be treated with oral doxycycline capsules or minocycline hydrochloride capsules alone. For topical application, antibiotic ointments such as clindamycin phosphate gel or compound polymyxin B ointment can be applied for treatment.
