Whether or not you can exercise after installing a pacemaker should be judged according to the patient’s condition. If it is 1~3 months after pacemaker implantation or combined with severe heart failure and other diseases, it is generally not recommended for patients to exercise; after 3 months, when the lead and myocardium have been fixed, the wound has healed, and there is no combination of severe heart failure and other diseases affecting the heart’s function, you can generally exercise appropriately.
1. Exercise is not recommended: within 1~3 months after pacemaker implantation, patients are not recommended to exercise, so as not to affect the healing of the pacemaker wound, trigger the dislocation of the pacing lead and other possibilities, or the patients are combined with serious heart failure and other diseases, which have seriously impaired the function of the heart structure, and exercise is also not recommended.
2. Appropriate exercise: generally more than 3 months after implantation, the lead has been completely fixed, the wound has healed, the patient does not have a combination of serious heart failure, ischemic cardiomyopathy and other diseases affecting cardiac function, daily activities and appropriate exercise is generally not affected, but should be avoided implanted pacemakers on the side of the upper limb excessive stretching or pulling exercise, avoid boxing, pull-ups and other strenuous exercise.
Pacemakers are implanted in the body to deliver pulses that cause the heart to excite and contract, treating arrhythmias such as sick sinus node syndrome and high atrioventricular block.
It is recommended that patients with pacemakers decide whether they can exercise under the guidance of a physician’s evaluation.
