There is no such thing as a specific medicine for prune nucleus qi (similar to pharyngeal foreign body sensation). Plum nucleus qi is the name of a Chinese medicine disease, which is characterized by a foreign body sensation and obstruction in the throat. Depending on the type of symptoms, Plum nucleus qi is usually treated with the Chinese herbal prescriptions Hanxia Houpu Tang (半夏厚朴汤) and Yiwu San (逍遥散), and the therapeutic effect varies from person to person.
1. Semixia Houpu Tang: This formula is composed of Semixia, Houpu, Perilla frutescens, Poria, ginger and other medicines, which has the efficacy of promoting qi stagnation, removing phlegm and dispersing knots, and can treat plum-pit qi of phlegm-qi interlocking (phlegm in the body accompanied by poor qi) type, which is characterized by a pronounced sense of foreign body in the throat, self-consciousness of more than one phlegm between the larynx, coughing and vomiting, tiredness and dullness of the limbs (lack of appetite, decreased food intake), belching (hiccups), and so on.
2. Free San: This formula is composed of Angelica sinensis, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Radix Bupleurum Chinense, Poria, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Mentha piperita, etc. It has the efficacy of dredging up the liver, relieving depression and dispersing knots, and can treat liver depression and stagnation of plum nucleus qi, with the symptoms of feeling of a foreign body in the throat, not being able to swallow, not being able to spit out, depression and doubtfulness, fullness of the chest and the ribs and epigastric region, heartache and depression, and sighing, etc. The above formula has adverse effects and is contraindicated.
