Neuromodulation therapy for epilepsy treatment

Neuromodulation techniques are treatment modalities that obtain therapeutic effects by modulating changes in the function or state of the nervous system by means of electrical (electrical stimulation) or chemical (drug pumps). Epilepsy is a specific condition caused by abnormal discharges of brain cells. Neuromodulation treatment of epilepsy generally uses electrical stimulation to reduce the excitability of brain cells and reduce abnormal discharges to reduce seizures. In addition, drug pump therapy, which treats epilepsy by achieving efficient absorption of drugs through the slow release of antiepileptic drugs directly inside the brain, is still in the clinical trial stage. The rapid development of neuromodulation technology, a frontier science involving medicine, bioengineering, and physics, has brought us a new treatment tool with great potential for the treatment of intractable neurological disorders. Clinical practice has shown that many previously incurable conditions, such as intractable epilepsy, movement disorders, Parkinson’s, chronic pain, and psychiatric disorders, can achieve good results with the help of neuromodulation as a treatment tool. The main treatment methods include deep brain nucleus electrical stimulation (DBS), vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), etc. However, on October 30, 2010, China formally established the China Chapter of the World Neuromodulation Society and the Neuromodulation Professional Committee (CNS) of the Chinese Medical Association, which has promoted the rapid development of neuromodulation therapy. The rapid development of neuromodulation therapy. Professor Luan Guoming of Beijing Sanbo Brain Hospital, the 11th School of Clinical Medicine of Capital Medical University, was elected as the chairman of the committee. ”The China Chapter of the World Neuromodulation Society and the CNS Committee of the Chinese Medical Association is a multidisciplinary collaboration and communication platform that enables Chinese medical practitioners to keep abreast of relevant knowledge and current developments in the field at home and abroad, and to jointly promote neuromodulation therapy. The CNS is a multidisciplinary collaboration and exchange platform that enables Chinese medical practitioners to keep abreast of relevant knowledge and current developments in the field, to jointly promote the development of neuromodulation therapy in China, and to discuss more and newer treatment methods in line with the world, with the ultimate goal of serving more patients. The main application in the treatment of refractory epilepsy is vagus nerve stimulation, a method that was approved by the FDA in 1997. More than 100 patients have been treated in China, and nearly 60 patients have been treated in Sanbo Brain Hospital of Capital Medical University, with good results. In addition, deep nucleus electrical stimulation and transcranial magnetic stimulation have also been initially carried out in China. The so-called neuromodulation method using pure Chinese medicine formula in some parts of China is not a real neuromodulation method, the majority of patients should not be deceived by the so-called high-tech.
