How long does it take for pinworms to disappear on their own?

Pinworms usually disappear on their own in about 20-30 days, depending on the individual. People are the only host of pinworms and pinworm-infected individuals are the only source of pinworm disease. Pinworm disease mainly manifests as itching in the anus and perineum, and is a parasitic disease of the intestinal tract. The life span of pinworms is usually 20-30 days, and pinworms usually heal themselves if the patient is treated promptly to ensure no further infection within a month. Pinworms are transmitted in two ways: self-infection and heterotransmission. Self-infection means that the eggs laid by the female worms at the anus are contaminated with hands and enter the human digestive tract after eating. Heterotransmission is oral transmission through food and toys contaminated with eggs. The eggs of pinworms survive for a relatively long time and can easily contaminate clothing, bed sheets and other items. Therefore, patients usually need to develop good hygiene habits, wash hands and cut nails regularly, pay attention to dietary hygiene, avoid drinking clear water or eating raw and cold vegetables, keep the anus clean and dry, change underwear regularly, and dry bed sheets and covers regularly.
