Indications for sacral nerve modulation

Sacral nerve modulation, commonly known as a bladder pacemaker, is currently approved by the FDA for the following four absolute indications: 1. urge incontinence; 2. intractable urinary frequency and urgency syndrome; 3. non-obstructive urinary retention; and 4. defecation dysfunction. At present, its indications have also been expanded in China, and good results have also been achieved. The relative indications are interstitial cystitis, neurogenic bladder disease from various causes, chronic constipation, bowel dysfunction, such as irritable bowel syndrome, and sexual dysfunction, all of which have achieved good results in large medical centers in China at present.
